Hello,

did anybody try to unzip the latest tango vm (http://ftp.esrf.fr/pub/cs/tango/tango9-vm.zip)?
Getting errors when unzipping. is it just me or the zip file broken?

Best regards,
Evgeny

Hi, I confirm that I can not unzip the following file (md5sum):
c235d79f4696d8916410c7d3547547d7 tango9-vm.zip

unzip complains about "corrupted zipfile"

Thanks, I guess the zip is broken, the same md5sum here:

Andy, can you re-upload the file please?

Best regards,

Hi Evgeny,

the zip file is not broken. I have just downloaded it and unzipped it on Windows. The md5sum is :
md5sum tango9-vm.zip
c235d79f4696d8916410c7d3547547d7 tango9-vm.zip

The good news is you have downloaded the file correctly. The problem is zip on Linux. It does not seem to be able to unzip files bigger than 4 GB. I used 7z to unzip the file on Debian:
7z e tango9-vm.zip

7-Zip [64] 9.20 Copyright © 1999-2010 Igor Pavlov 2010-11-18
p7zip Version 9.20 (locale=en_US.UTF-8,Utf16=on,HugeFiles=on,16 CPUs)

Processing archive: /users/goetz/tango/tango9-vm.zip

Extracting tango9-vm.vdi

Everything is Ok

Size: 21264072704
Compressed: 6786854667

Apparently "jar xf tango9-vm.zip" also works but I haven´t tried it.

Kind regards

Andy

Hi, using Ubuntu 14.04 (unzip 6.0) I get an exception, but,
I've just tried 7z on Ubuntu 14.04 (p7zip 9.20) and it worked fine.

Thanks!
Guifré.
Hi Andy,

thanks for the help, 7z worked just fine!
Quite strange that linux unzip was able to extract tango9-vm_rc2.zip with no problems.

Best regards,
Evgeny
Hi,
I tried to get this VM but download is very slow.
Is there any torrent to get it faster ?

Meanwhile, is there anywhere an exhaustive list of the installed packages into this VM ? (It can be obtained by command "dpkg –get-selections").

Thank you.

Hi Philippe,

What do you mean by slow? Can you quantify slow?

How does one setup a torrent site? I have never done this.

Are you trying the new release candidate for V9.2 :

ftp://ftp.esrf.fr/pub/cs/tango/tango92-vm_RC1.zip

Hi Philippe,
What do you mean by slow? Can you quantify slow?
It was announced to be finished downloaded 5 to 10 hours later, depending on the moment. It finally took 4 to 6 hours.
I doubt it was due to my bandwidth since I am on Renater.
Perhaps a lot of people try to get this image since it is a new one. It could divide the total bandwidth of esrf.org into a small bandwidth slots…

You just need to share it into a bittorrent client, which is a P2P client.
It will produce a torrent file which can be downloaded from several sites if several clients share it.

Yes, this is the one I got.

I finally got the exhaustive packages list, it is in attachment.

Does anyone can send the packages list to install after the basic installation ?
