TANGO & ROS

surely you knows Robot Operating System, the main framework dedicated to robotics

see ros.org and the new version http://design.ros2.org/

TANGO and ROS have differents targets for sure, users in large research facility are doing an other job than those controlling drones or humanoids, but Tango and Ros are sharing a lot of paradigm and technology too, and many more than you think at first sight (zmq,…)

I dont think to a kind of bridge (for what usage) but to some of their tools : catkin (modules packaging tool), discovery,…

I would like to know if someone has done some preliminary work in this direction, if you think it could have some value…

all suggestions are welcomed
About the packaging one can use the system packager: deb, rpm, …
Are you thinking of a public binary repository with all the Tango software and servers? Like a Tango App Store?
i.e
- MAXIV publishes one http://pubrepo.maxiv.lu.se/ mainly for rh6/7 linux.
- Soleil publishes a maven repository
- …

For the packaging of ros, there is an effort in Debian/Ubuntu in order to integrate all the ros ecosystem.

Indeed tango is already available :).

I have the same question in my mind and I'll be happy to have some suggestion or feedback from the community.
